Finally, news that actually matters.
Oscar Awarded to Daniel Day Lewis, Time Saved
1/12/13 On Thursday, the nominations for this years Academy Awards were announced to the public. The nominees for best picture included Argo, Lincoln, the French film Amour, and Zero Dark Thirty, as well as five others, and the nominees for director caused much outrage with its shocking omission of Ben Affleck for Argo. Today, however, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences saved everyone a lot of time by awarding the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role to Daniel Day Lewis for his performance as Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln.
"We all knew it was gonna be him" said Academy member Alistair McGregor "so we decided we might as well just give it to him now and get it over with" Most other members shared this opinion, since Lewis's flawless portrayal of Lincoln was pretty much gonna win no matter what.
"We always waste a lot of time with the Best Actor category and we're always so rushed with the Best Picture at the end," said Billy Crystal, a frequent host of the awards, "so it probably is best to get this easy one out of the way beforehand."
However,not everybody agrees with him.
"We don't waste that much time with it" said Hugh Jackman, another frequent host who coincidentally was also nominated for Best Actor for his role in Les Miserables, "I think they were a bit hasty with this. It wasn't that obvious" He then paused and looked out into the distance, as a single tear rolled down his face.

Movie looks pretty cool until I found out more about it

Upon entering the movie theater recently, I glimpsed an advertisement for a movie set for release in early 2013. Although it's plot is largely based on cliche and overused post-apocalyptic themes, it's premise as well as it's special effects and general execution make it seem as though this will be a decent movie. Nearly halfway through the trailer however, a name appeared on the screen followed closely by this individual's past credits in the literature/film world.
Stephenie Meyer
Author of the Twilight Saga.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Suddenly, I do not want to see this movie at all. What has she done to our ideal image of the post-apocalyptic alien invasion landscape of death? Has she turned it into a meadow, with sparkly aliens and cuddle monsters, with a protagonist that shows no emotion? Or simply a character that can only manage to whine throughout the entire movie? To be honest, I just don't know. All I can hope for is that someone will see it and tell me what horrors this person has done to our next big piece of culture - how she has ruined our apocalypse.

Skyfall breaks world record for number of bond films
When Skyfall, the newest installment in the James Bond franchise, was released on Friday, November 9, it made movie history as it broke the world record for Most James Bond Movies. Skyfall marks the 23rd Bond film in the series, which is more Bond films than there have ever been. Never before have this many Bond movies ever existed at one time.
"This is a remarkable achievement," said Roger McHale, an esteemed film critic, "I never thought that this many movies could focus on the character of James Bond, and I commend director Sam Mendes for making this dream a reality."
The record was previously held by the 2008 film Quantum of Solace, which was the 22nd Bond movie, but less than two weeks ago, Skyfall proved that that this record was not unbreakable by impossibly becoming the 23rd Bond movie and demolishing Quantum of Solace's record by a full number.
CR News Inc. would like to sincerely congratulate Sam Mendes and MGM studios for their unprecedented achievement in filmmaking.
